The Rio Hondo Public Library was started in 1979 by a group of retired teachers who saw the need for a library in the area. At first, the library was staffed totally by volunteers. In later years, a paid director was added. Today, the library is run by a full-time director and 2 volunteers.

OUR COLLECTION
The Rio Hondo Public Library has over 12,000 books, 500 videos and audio-books and 31 periodicals. Included in our collection is a section of large print as well as section of Spanish language materials.We also have a selection of materials for learning English.

INTERNET COMPUTER ACCESS
We offer public access computers with internet. All of our computers are equipped with TexShare Databases, which can be used for research in business, health, literature, current events, history, and can provide access to professional and scientific journals, encyclopedias, and numerous newspapers and magazines online.

LIBRARY HOURS
Monday – Friday  12:00 – 6:00 p.m.

VOLUNTEERS.- We are always looking for reliable volunteers to perform a variety of activities at the library, everything from shelving and processing books to helping out the circulation desk to typing or even to teach a class or two. If you think you might be able to help us. Please ask for a volunteer application form at the circulation desk. Volunteers must be 16 years of age.
